The Monkey Mia reserve is in the World Heritage Listed Shark Bay Marine Park, 25 kilometres from Denham. Situated 900 kilometres north of Perth, this popular tourist destination on Australia's west coast, is renowned for the spectacular schools of bottlenose dolphins that – for more than 50 years – have been coming in to shore daily to interact with visitors.

The tranquil, crystal clear waters of Dolphin Bay welcome the friendly dolphins only metres from the doors of the Monkey Mia Resort. With glorious sun-drenched skies most of the year round and secluded stretches of white beaches stretching for miles, Monkey Mia is one of the most delightful places to visit in the southern hemisphere.

Monkey Mia Resort is the only accommodation in the area but offers accommodation to travellers on all budgets, including backpackers, caravaners and campers, as well as 3.5 star family and couples accommodation. A wonderful way to relax is in the resort's spring hot tub, or at one of several licensed restaurants. Apart from the bottlenose dolphins, you can also expect to see dugongs, tiger sharks and schools of colourful fish in the calm seawaters.

Aside from the unforgettable human-dolphin experience at Monkey Mia, there are options for snorkelling, sailing, or cruising this natural wonderland as well. One of the most popular activities in the area is taking a morning camel ride along the beach, or 4WD'ing across the sands and foreshore of the mesmerising oceanfront. Round out your visit with an Aboriginal Cultural Walk for an unforgettable Monkey Mia experience.
